Tasting notes
A little coarser and tarter than the Santenary Les Charmes. Quite tart and demanding, but it may improve. (JR)

Un nez éclatant, perçant, qui vous attire inexorablement. On y retrouve des pommes tombées au sol et de la pêche rôtie. La bouche, élégante, finement fumée, déroule des notes de citron et de feuilles de thé. Un vin joliment ciselé.
50% whole bunch. One plot with concentrated small berries and one very old vines, mean that whole bunches work well here on a heavier clay soil. Almost a black centre with a purple rim. This is very generous but not too sunny, a wealth of black cherry and raspberry fruit, velvet texture which is very rare in Maranges and a long finish. Drink from 2026-2030. Tasted Nov 2024.
The 2023 Maranges La Fussières 1er Cru Rouge is blended with 30% whole bunch. This has an understated bouquet with light earthy red fruit with sous-bois and mineral scents. It opens succinctly in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with finely chiseled tannins, very poised, airy and transparent yet with real weight and presence on the finish. Bon vin !
