Drink 2034-2050, FINE+RARE, Apr 2026

The 2025 Roc de Cambes from the Mitjavile stable is a powerful yet remarkably composed wine, showing layers of dark red fruit wrapped in a full-bodied and beautifully rounded structure. Compared with Domaine de Cambes, the tannins here are drier and more assertive, yet they also bring greater precision and definition to the palate. The balance is impressive, with the wine combining richness and concentration with a sense of control and clarity. Still very youthful today, this is undeniably a baby at this stage, but the depth of fruit, structural harmony and excellent length strongly suggest a magnificent evolution ahead. The persistent finish lingers with elegance and quiet power, pointing toward a wine that should become truly fantastic with 8 to 15 years of cellaring.

The 2025 Roc de Cambes, blended with 20% Cabernet Franc, has a quintessential Mitjavile-style nose with precocious red berry fruit, dark chocolate and subtle minty aromas. Fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannins, white pepper mixed with fennel and dried herbs. Good complexity towards the slightly savoury finish, this is an engaging and delicious Roc de Cambes.

A bigger, richer effort than the Domaine de Cambes, the 2025 Roc De Cambes offers ripe cassis, sweet tobacco, and spicy oak on the nose. It's medium to full-bodied on the palate, with a ripe, layered mouthfeel and building tannins.

The nose kicks off with flowers, red berries, mint, tobacco, cocoa, and herbs. The palate is even better with its vivid display of red with black pit fruits, licorice, dark chocolate, and herbs, with a blend of creaminess and vibrancy on the backend. Give it just a year or two in the bottle, and it will really come on strong. The wine blends 80% Merlot with 20% Cabernet Sauvignon.
