The 2025 Chasse-Spleen was picked from September 12 to 23 and matured in 35% new oak for a planned 16 months. It has a mixture of redcurrant, blackcurrant and very subtle ferrous scents on the nose, well defined and focused though it takes a few swirls of the glass to really cohere. The palate is medium-bodied, with a little chewiness on the entry. There seems to be a little more extraction in this Moulis, quite dense and arguably just missing the precision of, say, Poujeaux or Branas Grand Poujeaux. But it is a "solid" Chasse Spleen and its élevage will just shave its edges.

Checking in as a blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, and 2% Cabernet Franc that will spend 16 months in 35% new oak, the 2025 Chasse-Spleen offers ripe black cherries, toasted nuts, spicy wood, and dried flowers on the nose. On the palate, it's medium-bodied with a nicely balanced, layered mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a good finish. It has tons of character, and my money is on this being outstanding once bottled. It checks in at 12.5% alcohol.

A very structured red with a medium body, good depth of fruit and juicy tannins. Earth, spice and terra cotta undertones to the fruit. Muscular in many ways.

The 2025 Chasse-Spleen is a deep, potent Moulis-en-Médoc. Intense dark-toned fruit, gravel, incense, new leather, licorice and chocolate build through to the, palate-staining finish. Tasted two times.
