The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin La Brunelle is the star at the communal level this year, revealing aromas of cherries, sweet red berries and plums mingled with peonies and spices, followed by a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered palate that's supple, seamless and lively.

The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin La Brunelle comes from a parcel constituting a majority of the lieu-dit that lies adjacent to La Corvées. This has slightly darker fruit on the nose by comparison. Again, it’s just a little oaky, though most of that should be soaked up with time. The palate is medium-bodied with a fleshy opening, quite spicy on the entry, with moderate depth. Very smooth in texture, though like the Corvée, the Pinoté of this Gevrey is lost a little in the oak regime (around 70% new) on the finish.

Henri Rebourseau

Based in Gevrey-Chambertin, this domaine has a long history and impressive vineyards (with over five hectares of Grand Cru), but has long been considered an under-performer. Today, however, the Bouygues brothers (of Montrose and Clos Rougeard) have taken ownership and change is afoot.
