Tasting notes
Lastly, the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Summit is also gorgeous. More in the mold of the Basalt, yet with a touch more generosity, it has a kill core of red and black fruits, medium to full body, ripe, building tannins, and complex spice, iron, leather, and graphite-like aromatics.

The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Summit is more concentrated and structured than the 2022 Shale and more tightly knit and classically built than the 2022 Basalt, which makes sense, since it's a selection of the estate's Stags Ridge Vineyard's best barrels. Cassis and blueberry notes are accented by hints of crushed stone on the nose, and while the palate is undeniably full-bodied, it's balanced, classical in shape and boasts considerable persistence on the finish.
The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Summit is a selection of the best barrels in the cellar. It possesses gorgeous mid-palate sweetness and textural resonance, with a kick more oak influence as well. Blackberry jam, espresso, incense, licorice and cloves fill out the layers nicely. This plush, deep Cabernet has a ton to offer.
