Tasting notes
Representing all five soil types found on the site, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Quintvs is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, largely the so-called See Clone (FPS Clone 30). It's a bit more concentrated than the young-vine Tères, with loam-like notes accenting dark fruit on the nose—think cassis, blueberries and black cherries. Medium to full-bodied in the mouth, it's rich and concentrated, with a long, softly tannic finish.

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon QUINTVS is also all Cabernet Sauvignon and comes from a mix of all the terroirs on the estate. Similarly inky hued, it has a killer nose of pure cr me de cassis, candied violets, graphite, and crushed stone that develops beautifully with time in the glass. It too is medium to full-bodied, has ultra-fine tannins, flawless balance, and a great finish. It's a seriously good, age-worthy beauty from this team that will have 30 years of overall longevity.
The difference in the shape of the tannins between Quintvs and Terés at this early stage of their development is clear, with everything becoming more muscular and bedded down with the Quintvs (sourced from older vines and more powerful parts of the vineyard). This is great quality, rippling with liqourice, cocoa bean, cassis and sage, easy to fall in love with. Not yet released, but it is going to be worth the wait. 80% new French oak, Philippe Melka consultant.
