Tasting notes
The 2021 Viré-Clessé from Domaine de la Bongran is crisp and sensationale, combining roundness and vibrancy with impressive depth of matter. Aromas open on floral notes, white orchard fruit, white peach and tropical nuances, layered with hints of lemon curd, citrus oil, beeswax and mineral clay. On the palate, it is very powerful yet precise, with loads of matière carried by a silky, caressing texture. The fruit remains pure and expressive, moving from ripe citrus to melon and gentle exotic tones, while a nice acidity brings energy and definition. The wine shows remarkable balance between richness and tension, delivering excellent length and a lingering, mineral-driven finish. Already highly compelling, it will continue to gain complexity over time, revealing even greater harmony and aromatic depth with further ageing.
