Score 97/100 · Drink 2027-2045, Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, Jun 2025

A complex blend sourced from David Abreu's Madrona Ranch (Saint Helena) and Las Posadas (Howell Mountain) vineyards, the 2022 Bettina Proprietary Red Wine is slightly floral and violet-like, with buckets of black cherries in support. A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Cabernet Franc, 12% Petit Verdot and 10% Merlot, it's full-bodied and expansive, a bit sturdier and perhaps less elegant than the estate-grown (Pritchard Hill) Cabernet Sauvignon, turning chunky and chocolaty on the finish.

Lastly, the 2022 Bettina is one of the bigger, richer wines in the lineup. Darker currants, scorched earth, graphite, chocolate, and some spicy mineral notes all define the aromatics, and it's full-bodied, with a concentrated mouthfeel and a great finish. Coming mostly from the Madrona and Las Posadas vineyards (with a little Bryant), it will evolve for two decades.

The 2022 Bettina is laced with black cherry, plum, graphite, crushed rocks and incense. It possesses palpable energy and verve. Lavender, chocolate, leather and menthol run through the finish. In 2022, the blend is taken from Madrona Ranch, Las Posadas and the Bryant estate. There's a bit of stem inclusion in the Cabernet Franc. Winemaker KK Carothers got the most out of what the vintage had to offer.
