There is just one new barrel of the 2024 Vosne-Romanée Les Malconsorts ler Cru this year. That wood does occlude some of the fruit at the moment, although it seems proportional. Fingers crossed that it will become fully integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, fine tannins, very pure and silky with a tender but persistent finish. Give this a couple of years in bottle.

How much NSG is in the Malconsort? It is definitely a Vosne wine; however, the seriousness and masculinity can somehow be associated with the northern part of NSG … north of the “city” of NSG. It does not unfold sexily like a Petit Monts … but powers on with a slightly brutish charm … as do part of La Tâche. Malconsort is in many ways the turning point … where Vosne becomes Vosne and leaves NSG behind. Vosne becomes Vosne to the core in parts of La Tâche … and in the RSV and Conti section is blossoming … this is why Burgundy never seems to amaze and joy. Drink from 2035
