Tasting notes
The 2022 Syrah Bearwallow Vineyard is soft and round in feel yet deep and powerful at its core. Still a little closed and hesitant to show its hand, the 2022 teases with brooding notes of incense, tar, rich blueberry fruit and dark, haunting florals. Incisive, cocoa-powder-like tannins frame the finish and suggest the Bearwallow Syrah will reward patience.

A remarkably accessible iteration on this wine, the 2022 Syrah Bearwallow is as black, blue and purple as ever, opening with an expressive nose that is among the more floral and perfumed of the Rhys Syrahs, layered with a smoldering note of vine smoke that emerges after time in the glass. The palate is plush, dense and enveloping while retaining an upright, focused core. It concludes with a saturated, layered finish that weaves together refined, chalky tannins, a transparent core of dark fruits and another round of the purple flowers first observed on the nose.
