Score 91-93/100 · Drink 2028-2040, Neal Martin, Jan 2026

The 2024 Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru is matured in 50% new oak, one new barrel one used. It has a very expressive bouquet with quite high-toned red fruit, lots of blood orange here, touches of iris flower and violet. The palate is medium-bodied with a grainy-textured opening. Here I find the wood tannins a bit obtrusive towards the finish, though they will be integrated by the time of bottling. Whereas the Clos Saint-Denis feels "settled" this just needs to find its groove.
