The 2023 Saint-Joseph, matured for 12 months in barrel including around 10% new oak, opens with aromas of blueberry and blackberry marked by an attractive touch of reduction that is slightly more pronounced than usual. Medium- to full-bodied, juicy and elegant, it’s fresh and precise, offering a straight, well-defined profile with good length. Accessible and gourmand, it should provide considerable pleasure in its youth.

Rocking stuff, the 2023 Saint Joseph has a gorgeous meaty nose of smoked bacon, ripe red and black cherries, leather, and violets. It's medium-bodied and concentrated on the palate, with a pure, layered mouthfeel and ultra-fine tannins. This cuvée is underrated in the market, and savvy readers will buy it by the case year in and year out. Drink this terrific Saint Joseph over the coming 15 years. Drink 2026-2041. I continue to rave about the Condrieu and Saint-Joseph from the family of Andre Perret. The Condrieu have distinctive characters and it's always hard to pick a favorite. I seem to flipflop each year, with the Chery cuvée bringing that extra intensity in 2024. I'll be a buyer. Also don't miss the reds here. While known largely for their Condrieu, this estate makes brilliant, age-worthy Saint-Josephs!

The 2023 Saint-Joseph starts off with a bright yet tempered set of red fruits and spicy tones. Earthy traces add more complexity. Midweighted and moderately concentrated, the 2023 is a smartly assembled red Saint-Joseph.
