O'Shaughnessy's 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is an addition to the range, and is essentially a second selection of fruit from the Mt. Veeder and Howell Mountain properties. The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon captures the essence of the year in its sweet, radiant fruit. Freshly cut flowers, spices, mint and sweet red berries. The flavors are bright, focused and delineated, with gorgeous underlying salinity and tension. Sexy, racy and polished, the 2012 is a fabulous Cabernet Sauvignon to drink now and over the next decade or so. There is a lot to like here. This may very well be the best value in top-flight Napa Valley 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon.

Readers looking for a realistic value from Napa Valley should check out the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley. Aged in about 80% new oak, it is a blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot and the rest Petit Verdot and Carmenère. Delicious, ripe red and blackcurrant notes intermixed with loamy soil undertones are present in this medium-bodied, deep, fleshy, succulent, hedonistic Cabernet. Enjoy it over the next 10-12 years, although I suspect it will last longer.

The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is glorious. I loved this wine on release, and I love it just as much today. Moreover, it is aging so well. Crushed red/purplish berry fruit, mint, spice and lavender are wonderfully alive in the glass. Quite frankly, I would have never guessed this to be a ten year-old wine. The only hint with regards to its age is that the tannins have started to melt away. It's a fine Cabernet, especially at the Napa Valley level.
