Score 93/100 · Drink 2025-2040, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, Dec 2024
The 2022 Pinot Noir Proem #3 comes from Calera clone vines planted in a single block of the Pastorale Vineyard. It was fermented with 21% whole clusters and matured in 55% new French oak. It’s youthfully coiled on the nose, with touches of allspice and nutmeg over a core of red cherries and floral perfume. The medium-bodied palate is more open at this stage, offering generous layers of spicy fruit. It’s structured by supple tannins and vibrant acidity and has a long, bitters-laced finish. It will benefit from 3-5 years in the cellar. 236 cases were made.
