Score 92/100 · Drink 2015-2020, Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate, Aug 2015

The 2012 Alteza is a blend of 50% Malbec from Salta and 50% from La Consulta in the Uco Valley. The wine from Salta starts fermenting during the transport (they transport the fermenting vats) and they stop to do manual pigeage every three hours. The nose of the 2012 is extremely perfumed and floral, with intense aromas of violets, orange blossom and small berries with just a hint of spices. The Salta wild character seems to show in the form of black olives and garrigue. The palate is full-bodied, juicy and round with no edges and moderate acidity. It's a showy, ripe, hedonistic version of Malbec. It feels very fresh for a vintage of 2012.
