Score 93/100 · Drink 2015-2030, Robert Parker, Jun 2015
One of the finest wines I’ve ever tasted from Sherwin Family Vineyards, this blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc, from high on Spring Mountain, tips the scales at a relatively lofty 15.1% alcohol. The wine shows classic briary mountain fruit of blueberries, raspberries and the blacker currants found down on the valley floor. The wine has some minerality, beautiful spring floral notes, and a stunningly proportioned, full-bodied opulence and richness. This is a revelation in my tastings – kudos to the Sherwin family! It is still a relatively young wine, but certainly accessible. So I wouldn’t hesitate to drink it now, or 10-15 years from now.
