Tasting notes
Based on 88% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 3% each Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, the 2021 Red Blend Murasaki reveals red and black fruits, chocolate, roasted herbs, and floral nuances. Full-bodied and decadent on the palate, with moderate acidity and a rich, concentrated profile, this displays plenty of sweet fruit character without being overly elegant. Best enjoyed over the coming 8-10 years.

Consultant Heidi Barrett publicly split with the winery in 2022, so Enzo's 2021 Murasaki Proprietary Red Blend was finalized by current winemaker Marc Nanes. A blend of 88% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot, it features scents of black cherries, cinnamon and a faintly tomato leaf-like note. It's full-bodied and expansive, softly tannic, then easygoing and supple on the long, mouthwatering finish. One of the top Merlots I recall tasting this year.
