Tasting notes
The 2024 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Saint-Jacques Vieilles Vignes ler Cru (there is just one cuvée from this illustrious vineyard this year) is quite closed at first, a mixture of red and black fruit, autumn leaves and hints of black truffle and smoke. Very complex and engaging. The palate is medium-bodied with fine delineation, quite sapid with a linear finish. It just needs a little more substance and grip on the finish, hence my prudent score for now. I am intrigued to see how this will show in bottle.
