Bright, healthy yellow. Sexy musky lift to the highly nuanced scents of orange peel, lime blossom, frangipane, cinnamon, acacia flower and jasmine. Wonderfully dense and deep but still magically juicy and lively as well, conveying a sexy hint of sweetness as well as a dusty impression of dry extract and pronounced saline minerality. This tactile, solid, mineral-driven wine finishes with terrific length. It's perfect right now but should go on for at least another 10 to 15 years. Dauvissat noted that the summer of 1990 was even hotter and drier than that of '89 but added that a bit of rain at the end of August "deblocked" the maturity of the grapes and the crop level was ultimately even higher than in '89. He also told me that "the sugar fermentations were a bit hard to finish but did in the end." (harvested on September 20, as in 1989)
