Score 91/100 · Drink 2019-2023, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Aug 2019

Incredibly light yellow color for its age, even with a faint green tinge. Subdued aromas of ripe apple and pear, fennel and flowers, plus a balsamic nuance; slow to open but pure. Rich but quite dry, offering a refined texture but not the personality of the '86. This wine boasts considerable thickness and soil-driven salinity but may be flattening out despite its remarkably youthful color. Finishes with very good but not outstanding length. My recorked bottle held up very well in the refrigerator but did not really gain in flavor interest.
