Score 96/100 · Drink 2025-2045, Jeb Dunnuck, Dec 2025

A blend of both valley floor and Atlas Peak fruit and aged 18 months in 73% new French oak, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Expedition has a deep purple/ruby hue and offers killer red, blue, and black fruits intermixed with Asian spices, lead pencil, and hints of tobacco. It's medium to full-bodied, has a beautiful core of fruit, ripe tannins, and a juicy, salivating salinity on the finish. It's going to evolve for two decades. Drink 2025-2045.

The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Expedition is bright, punchy and full of character. As appealing as the wine is today, readers will want to cellar it for at least a few years, as the acids and tannins of this late-ripening year are front and center. Crushed rocks, slate, mint, red-toned fruit and blood orange lend brightness throughout.
