Score 90/100 · Drink 2025-2035, Jeb Dunnuck, May 2025

The 2020 Barolo Del Comune Di La Morra is a ripe wine on the nose that pours a dark, inky brick red. It boasts sappy notes of balsamic, tarry earth, baked black cherries, and sweet melding spices. It fleshes out further on the palate with full-bodied richness and is generous with ripe fruit upfront and through the mid-palate before its building tannins grip firmly on the finish. It’s likely to bring forward more notes of black truffle and dark chocolate as it ages. Drink 2025-2035.

The 2020 Barolo del Comune di La Morra opens with lovely aromatics that are quite promising, then hard tannins take over the mid-palate and finish. Hints of dark cherry, leather, cedar and tobacco struggle to emerge. I would prefer to drink this over the near term.
