Score 89/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2011

Good medium ruby-red. Dark raspberry, blackberry, licorice and violet on the nose, lifted by dusty brown spices and mint. Juicy and moderately intense, with good ripeness to the youthfully brooding flavors of dark berries, menthol and bitter chocolate. Still a bit clenched but the dusty tannins are riper than those of the Patzimaro bottling and finish considerably finer-grained.
