All in all, the 2020 La Rougerie is seamless and expansive with a high level of elegance. Sweet, nutty oak makes the first impression before pure cassis and black cherry notes shine through. This possesses a whole lot of intrigue in its infancy but has a long way to go before it fully reveals itself. That said, the 2020 has class, sophistication, excellent handling and a tram-like line of acidity and chalkiness that allows it to persist. I'd love to see this up against some St-Émilions. Buy it and embarrass your nerdy friend in a blind tasting.
