Score 95/100 · Drink 2026-2040, Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous
The 2020 La Croix Boissée is serious with dark, brooding fruit and subtle, sweet spice. There's volume and plenty of density on the shapely and caressing palate. This shows a very tender hand when it comes to tannins. Upon first opening, this is a little boxy, but after five to ten minutes in the glass it gains clarity, length and line, revealing an incredibly chalky, drawn-out finish. The 2020 is still an infant and, though you could enjoy its ripe, primary flavors of rhubarb, cherry and pickled plum now, this is one for the cellar.
