Tasting notes
The 2011 Alteza is a blend of truck-fermented Malbec grapes from Salta and winery-fermented Malbec from La Consulta, in the Uco Valley in Mendoza. The wine is intensely floral and aromatic, with a beautiful Burgundian character, herbaceous notes of rockrose, a touch of spices and roasted sesame seeds. It is much fresher than the 2010. It has a round, full-bodied palate that is very supple and tasty, with chewy, meaty and juicy flavors that are ripe, with good freshness and great intensity and length. This is a superb, big, ripe, intense Malbec. Drink now-2020. Matervini is a micro-project by Santiago Achaval and Roberto Cipresso, a crazy Malbec blend from the Valles Calchaquies in Salta and La Consulta in Mendoza, completely different from any other wine produced in Argentina.
