Score 95/100 · Drink 2029-2049, Jeb Dunnuck, Dec 2025

Coming from the Mary Ann Vineyard on Mount Veeder with vines planted in 2017, the 2023 Mount Veeder Red Wine is based on 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, and 8% Petit Verdot and aged 20 months in 42% new French oak. It shows classic Mount Veeder aromatics of vibrant cassis and blue fruits intermixed with resinous herbs, sage, graphite, and crushed stone. Medium to full-bodied, it has a focused, elegant mouthfeel, building tannins, and a great finish. It has the focused, structured style of both the vintage as well as the appellation. Hide bottles for 4-6 years and drink over the following two decades. Drink 2029-2049.

The 2023 Red Wine Mt. Veeder is fabulous. Bright red-toned fruit, menthol, iron and white pepper are all classic Veeder signatures. The purity of the fruit is striking. This mid-weight, structured red blend has so much going on. It’s the most classically built and refined wine in the range. I loved it.
