Tasting notes
The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Mountain matured for 20 months in 75% new French oak. Initial wafts of cast iron, tar and coffee beans give way to nuances of cassis and garrigue. The full-bodied palate is powerfully styled, its concentrated flavors framed by muscular, grainy tannins, and its new oak is well integrated. It’s balanced by bright acidity and has a long, floral finish. 278 cases were made.

The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Mountain wafts up with a seductive bouquet of dusty red currants, geraniums and spiced blood orange. It is surprisingly silken and supple, with admirable weight and polished red fruits that slowly saturate. Structured and long yet not aggressive, the 2023 tapers off with elegance, leaving a slight bitter dark chocolate twang that fades slowly.
Power, power, and more power are front and center in the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Mountain barrel sample, tangy in red fruit and substantial oak. Entirely varietal, the grapes come from Klipsun, Red Mountain Vineyard, and Kiona Heart of the Hill. The density is pronounced in its youth and should allow the wine to age 15-20 years with ease.
