2009 Chester's Anvil Hattori Hanzo

(a blend of the two cabernets, merlot, petit verdot and syrah; a joint venture involving Aaron Pott, Carole Meredith and Steve Lagier): Good red-ruby. Attractive aromas of redcurrant, game, licorice and chocolate. Dense and fine-grained, with brisk acidity framing the flavors of blackberry, iodine and game (I might have picked this blind as malbec!). A bit clenched and unyielding on the back end, with the dusty tannins calling for at least a couple years of cellaring.
