Bottled in July after nine months in wood, the 2024 Dolcetto d’Alba pours a jeweled ruby color and comes from a notably rainy growing season. On the nose, it’s floral and pure, with fresh violets, blue and red berries, and wet stone notes. On the palate, it’s medium-bodied, linear, and focused, showing nervous energy and a bright, classical feel that recalls an earlier era of the wine. At just 12.5% alcohol, a rarity here over the past three decades, this feels like a Dolcetto of the past in the best sense. There are roughly 6,000 bottles produced. It’s an ideal everyday wine that doesn’t try to be more than it should. Drink 2026-2033.

The 2024 Dolcetto d'Alba is a very pretty, supremely elegant wine. Dolcetto as it used to be—light in body, aromatic and graceful, but with the finesse of today. That’s a hugely appealing combination in my book. Blue-toned fruit, lavender, cinnamon and new leather are all finely delineated in the glass. The 2024 is pure class.
