Sweet tobacco, worn-in leather, smoke, licorice and game open up in the 1999 Pinot Noir Jensen Vineyard. Powerful and a bit rough around the edges, yet with considerable depth, the 1999 will hold for another 5-10 years, perhaps longer. The style will always a bit a burly, so a little air is essential.

A spectacular young Pinot Noir (one of the greatest New World Pinots I have tasted), the 1999 Jensen Vineyard boasts a deep ruby/purple color as well as a phenomenal bouquet of black raspberry, cherry, currant, white flower, and forest floor scents. Dense and full-bodied, it is explosive on the palate yet neither heavy nor overdone. An extraordinary expression of Pinot Noir, this penetrating, staggeringly concentrated, yet elegant and gracious 1999 should drink well for 12-15 years. Wow!
