The 2016 Rosso di Montalcino is bold in the glass, with good floral and savory intensity that gives the wine so much character. Dried flowers, mint, herbs, tobacco and spice all develop in this expressive, mid-weight Rosso from Caparzo.

Maturing mid ruby with orange tinges. A little lifted, if subdued. Shy, sweet-sour cherry fruit on the palate and with muscular tannins. Structured yet elegant. (WS)

The Caparzo 2016 Rosso di Montalcino is an easy wine to locate, with more than 160,000 bottles on the market now. It is also offered at a great value price. You get a sudden whiff of ripe fruit with cherry confit and blackberry preserves followed by mild spice. This is an informal, leaned-bodied red with refreshing acidity and bright fruit characteristics.
