Tasting notes
To my palate, the king of the cellar this year is the 2021 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Véroilles, a medium to full-bodied, pure and racy wine redolent of red berries, wet stones, rose petals and wild cherries. Deep and concentrated, it's taut and intensely flavored, with a bright spine of acidity and a searingly mineral finish. My handwritten notes conclude with "like licking stones!" This will delight Burgundy purists.

Cask sample. Lots of chew and (for the moment) slightly tough structure. Wait awhile! Acidity dominates at the moment. Builds towards an impressive finish though. (JR)
The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Les Véroilles 1er Cru has a delicate, yet focused bouquet with beguiling dark cherry, raspberry and tea leaf aromas. The palate is sweet and ripe on the entry, with finely-judged acidity. Some flesh on the finish that is missing on some of the other cuvées, and a lightly-spiced note. This is full of charm and is more promising than some of its fellow Chambolle Premier Crus.
