Score 17/20 · Drink 2022-2029, Jancis Robinson MW, Oct 2021
This was decanted so presumably it was a bit reduced. Pretty deep crimson. Seductively silky ripe fruit that I fear I may not immediately identify as Syrah if I were served this wine blind – it seems a tad riper than northern Rhône Syrah, but there’s nothing wrong with that of course. Sweet start before some tobacco leaf and a convincingly dry finish. Definitely a food wine and definitely a wine with ambition. A light hint of liquorice and the glamour of well-grown Syrah on the mid-palate. Quite long.
