Tasting notes
Vivid ruby. A highly perfumed bouquet evokes fresh raspberry, Asian spices, rose and woodsmoke. Sweet, sappy and focused, with impressive clarity to its red fruit and floral pastille flavors. Becomes spicier and smokier with air and shows very good balance, in a Chambolle way. Finishes very long, with fine-grained tannins adding shape and grip.

More red fruit-driven, with a core of sweet cherries, dried leaves and forest floor, the 2011 Pinot Noir La Encantada Vineyard has a Burgundian savoriness on the palate (a character of the vintage) with ripe tannin and solid edge. The acidity pokes out slightly here, yet it’s still outstanding. Drink it over the coming 5-6 years. Drink now-2019. This was a classy, character filled lineup of wines by the folks at Foxen. Tel. Foxen's 2011 Pinot Noir La Encantada Vineyard is a beautifully precise, sculpted Pinot. Delineation and pure nuance are the calling cards. Black cherries, mint, leather, spices and licorice are some of the many notes that flow through to the vibrant finish. The 2011 will appeal most to readers who like Pinots with a sense of structure. This is undeniably sexy juice.
