Tasting notes
There are 150 cases of the 1998 Cabernet Sauvignon Coliseum Block, which was the first wine ever made by Mark Carter. Fully mature, it offers ripe black fruits, Asian spices, tobacco leaf, and cedar aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied on the palate, this elegant, classy, nicely balanced wine shows the cooler style of the vintage yet still brings beautiful classic Napa fruit.

The 1998 Cabernet Sauvignon Coliseum Block is impressive. It boasts a dense plum/purple color along with surprising power and density for a 1998, and deep notes of cassis intermixed with licorice, underbrush, and vanilla. This nicely-textured, supple, opulent Cabernet should drink well for 10-12 years. There are only 180 cases of this Cabernet Sauvignon, which is made with the assistance of the well-known Oakville cowboy/rodeo star/winemaker, Nils Venge. (Price not yet determined) Tel.
