Ruby-red color. Deep, brooding aromas of dark fruits and fruitcake, with strong notes of vanilla, clove, cinnamon, violet and candied licorice (I might have guessed New World syrah-or shiraz!). Rich and sweet but with a fine dusting of tannins firming the blackberry and candied plum flavors. Finishes with impressive length and a lingering note of candied blackberry. Again, fans of boisterous, masculine pinot will adore this. Serve it with rich dishes. Also tasted: 2003 Pinot Noir Renegade Ridge Estate Willamette Valley*.
