Clear, pure, aromatic and fresh on the nose, as if you were diving deep into the Atlantic, the 2022 Gaisböhl G.C. opens beautifully precise and iodine-infused on the nose that reveals intense but refined ripe peach and raspberry aromas. Very fresh and seriously structured, this is a pure and tensioned but also aromatic yet very precise and savory Riesling with playful acidity and stimulating, classic fruit. This is a gorgeous, persistently saline and tensioned Riesling in a classical style. Tasted at the Nobelhart & Schmutzig restaurant in Berlin, February 2024.

Hidden depths? Less obviously aromatic than the 2023s just tasted from this estate. Almost syrupy in its concentration, though it finishes very dry. A strange mix! I find the Erste Lage wines more comfortably balanced. This GG is perhaps a bit too exaggerated at the moment. Fiery – lots of alcohol? No – just 12.5%! (JR)

Delicate fruit aromas linger into a stony, salty palate. Finely spiced, with white pepper and an ethereal rosemary lift. Citrus tension and an elegantly juicy length. Despite the concentration, the wine's fine balance keeps everything in check. Just because it is speaking quietly doesn't mean it doesn't still have much to say. (PS)

The enveloping nose of pineapple chutney, King Alphonso mango and coriander seed pulls you deep down into this rich and mysterious dry riesling. Enormous concentration at the very clean, harmonious and silky finish. From biodynamically grown grapes. Wild-fermented in large neutral oak. Vegan. Drink or hold.
