Score 93/100 · Drink 2020-2045, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Jan 2018

The 2010 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Evocelles bursts from the glass with an extravagant and projected bouquet of exotic spices, potpourri, crushed cassis and incipient notes of rich soil. On the palate, the wine is medium-full, intense and ethereal, structured around chalky tannins and racy acids, with a sappy, penetrating finish. This stands out for its weightless concentration and wonderful clarity: a fabulous success in a vintage that is one of Loïc Dugat-Py's favorites.

The 2010 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Evocelles bursts from the glass with deeply pitched spices and a mineral inflected bouquet that is breathtaking. The Evocelles is endowed with tons of intensity in its fruit and an equal amount of energy. Tar, licorice, game, violets and blueberries wrap around the masculine, virile finish. This is a fabulous wine with plenty of Dugay-Py signature stamped all over it. The Evocelles was made with 60% whole clusters.

Two-thirds whole bunch, two-thirds new oak. Very deep crimson. Lovely fresh nose with real race and life. Higher vines and more refreshment. Great stuff. Firm but not dry tannins. Tonic wine. (JR)
