Tasting notes
Darker in flavor profile than the regular bottling, Odette's 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve spent 22 months in new French oak. Scents of black cherries, vanilla and suede mark the nose, while the full-bodied palate is plush, velvety and supple—it really nails the textural side of the quality equation, even if it could show more nuanced complexity on the nose. Expect some of that to develop with bottle age as it matures over the next decade or so.

All varietal brought up in new barrels, the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve shows the vintage with its uber-ripe, jammy style in its darker raspberries, sweet baking spices, candied violets, smoky oak, and subtle chocolaty aromas and flavors. It's full-bodied and mouth-filling on the palate, with gobs of sweet fruit, but comes across as a sweet fruit bomb that lacks the extra dimension this cuvée normally shows. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see how this evolves as it sheds some of its baby fat.
The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is a wild, exotic wine. The ripeness of the vintage is very much on display, and yet all the elements are very nicely integrated. Super-ripe dark cherry, plum, licorice, lavender and mocha convey notable textural and flavor intensity. This is quite a rich wine.
