Tasting notes
Fashioned from a parcel located between the Chateau du Clos Vougeot and the Chateau de la Tour, the 2003 Clos Vougeot reveals super-ripe red and black cherry aromas. Medium-bodied, it displays a spicy character filled with impressive quantities of dark cherries, blackberries, and toasty oak. Its sappy personality has outstanding depth of fruit and a slightly rustic, tannic finish that will require some cellaring. Projected maturity: 2009-2017. Importer: Weygandt-Metzler, Peter Weygandt, Unionville, PA; tel. (610) 486-0800

Bright, deep red. Reduced, rather oaky aromas of redcurrant, red plum, minerals, flowers, chocolate and roasted meat. Very mellow and smooth, with smoke and mineral flavors dominating. As seamless as this is, the wine's minerality gives it firmness and shape. Very long finish features sweet, fine tannins. An impressive sample.
