Score 87-88/100 · Drink 2018-2027, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Dec 2017

The 2016 Santenay Les Hâtes Rouge comes from vines planted in 1939. It has a broody, blackberry and raspberry-scented bouquet with touches of wild hedgerow developing with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with rustic, quite firm tannin. This is a masculine Santenay, but there is plenty of fruit locked away here…it will just need three or four years to soften and lose its rough edges.
