Tasting notes
Tor's 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Vaca Ridge Vineyard was sourced from Bettinelli's Upper Range, which was able to handle the heat wave better than most, as each vine has its own mister for cooling. Cherries, dried spices and a hint of mocha appear on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is concentrated and reasonably supple, with slightly coarse-grained tannins asserting themselves on the long finish.

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Matured 20 months in new French oak. Unfined and unfiltered. Deep ruby with a hint of purple. Quite creamy, savoury, yet just a touch confected. A slight hold on the mid palate without as much depth as the 2021. Very good balance and dense but perhaps too tight to show its full potential? (SCJ)
Lots of red and black fruits, leather, crushed stone, and an almost iron, bloody character shine in the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Vaca Ridge, a medium to full-bodied, broad, layered, supple beauty that really shines in the vintage. It should evolve nicely over the coming decade as well.
The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Vaca Ridge is a blend of two blocks, Cabernet Sauvignon on St. George and a healthy dollop of Cabernet Franc. Deep and layered in the glass, with terrific aromatic presence, the 2022 is super-distinctive. Red plum fruit, cedar, blood orange, spice and graphite build into the potent finish. This is nicely done.
