Score 94-96/100 · Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, Dec 2023

The 2022 Cabernet Franc is a barrel sample aging for 30 months in 100% new French oak. It's a touch shy at this early stage, with scents of cassis, cocoa powder, sage and juniper. The palate combines dark, ripe fruit with mineral character. It has youthfully firm tannins, juicy acidity and a long, floral finish. It is due to be bottled in March of 2025.

A whiff of confectionary spice gives way to shavings of cedar, rose petals and dried strawberries as the youthfully brooding 2022 Cabernet Franc Patrimony evolves in the glass. The palate is deeply textural, nearly weighty in feel, supported by brisk acidity and citrus-infused red and black fruits underscored by saline mineral tones. It finishes with chewy concentration and a pleasantly bitter twang as a hint of tart raspberry and savory herbs lingers on. The Patrimony Cabernet Franc has a monolithic feel in this vintage. I expect that further integration of its oak will reveal unseen depth. Until that time, I remain conservative.
