Tasting notes
The 2023 Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts 1er Cru is blessed with a gorgeous nose of sea cave and lemon verbena, gradually developing the flintiness that I observed from barrel. Wonderful delineation. The palate has retained the energy and subtle spiciness that it demonstrated before, tightly wound towards the finish which suggests that it will benefit from a couple of years in bottle. Excellent.

Offering up aromas of white peach, citrus oil and pear, framed by hints of bread dough and old oak barrels, the 2023 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Réferts is medium to full-bodied rich and layered, with a sweet core of fruit underpinned by chalky structure. This is another of the strong points in the range.
The 2023 Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts 1er Cru comes from a 0.11ha parcel planted in 1949. It has a minimalist, Zen-like bouquet that is pure mineralité - almost flinty in style. The palate is well-defined, with ample weight and notes of orange zest and mango. It's energetic and lightly spiced towards the finish. This will require two or three years in bottle. This is one of the strongest wines from Pierre Vincent this vintage.
