Displaying a bright red color, the 2023 Pinot Noir The Beaux Frères Vineyard is layered and boasts a deeper aromatic profile. A consistent wine year after year, the aromatics are exceptional in this vintage, with notes of ripe cherries, crushed flowers, and woodsy, mossy earth. (It smells like walking into a spring forest.) The palate, which has a light salty flourish, offers incredible balance between its energy, structure, and ripeness. It never has astringency, and its excellent energy adds a pleasing level of structure to the wine. Drink 2025-2045. Michael Etzel founded Beaux Freres in 1991 in Ribbon Ridge alongside his brother-in-law, Robert Parker. In 2017, Parker and another investor sold their shares, and Michael became a partner with the Champagne and Burgundy house of Maison & Domaines Henriot. Today, Michael’s son Mikey has taken over the wine production and has been joined by Damien Lapuyade as winemaker since 2023. Beaux Frères has also transitioned to producing wines entirely from their estate fruit, which is farmed biodynamically. Readers will find happy homes for the holdings that were not part of the estate they worked with in the past, represented in this report, which don’t fall far from the Etzell family’s sphere of influence.

The 2023 Pinot Noir The Beaux Frères Vineyard has layered aromas of cranberry, blackberry, bitters, mossy bark and holiday spice. The medium-bodied palate is elegantly styled with concentrated, detailed, spicy flavors. It’s framed by silky tannins and juicy acidity and has a long, spicy finish. It transforms dramatically with air and should be long lived in the cellar.
