Drink 2027-2040, FINE+RARE, Sep 2025

The fruit for this wine comes from the lowest part of Folatières, separated from Ez Folatières by a line of trees that provides welcome shade during the hottest part of the day, and just above Clavoillon. Alvina and Philippe have been pruning the vines here shorter, reducing yields to produce a more concentrated expression of the site – work that is paying off. The 2024 (aged in just under a third new oak) has a subtle, spicy, smoky mineral nose, with creamy, chalky hints. The wine’s weight is revealed on the palate: a flood of rich fruit – yellow peach and ripe apricot that verges on tropical, with honeysuckle tones and candied citrus, its opulence held in check by a line of pithy acidity, driving through the wine’s core. A delicious result.

The 2024 Puligny Montrachet Clos des Folatières ler Cru has a similar nose to the Clos de la Garenne: those enticing dew speckled green apples and "cool glade" scents, precise and focused. The palate is slightly more bitter on the entry, a healthy twist of sour lemon, a silver thread of acidity, fine weight with a persistent finish. Very fine, very classy.

Mid lemon yellow. A small crop here from ageing vines. Not too ripe on the nose, medium concentration. Juicy on the palate, a lightly peachy fruit though not exaggerated. A good fruit and acid integration. Peaches again at the finish
