Tasting notes
This south-facing site is one of the highest in Meursault – and often offers a combination of Meursault’s richness and Puligny-Montrachet’s minerality. After the flight of Puligny-Montrachet, this offers a shift in fruit profile – moving definitely to the yellow spectrum, with ripe Mirabelle plum and physalis. It’s honeyed, creamy and layered, a hint of voluptuousness in its generous texture, yet still with a vibrant chalky, minerality. Around a fifth of the 2024 was aged in new oak.

The 2024 Meursault La Piéce Sous Bois 1er Cru has a reserved and quite stony nose, with touches of Alpine stream and petrichor. The palate is well balanced, showing a touch more tension than the previous vintage with a dash of spiciness that enlivens the finish. This feels like a step up from the previous vintage.
From family vineyards. Lemon and lime in colour, but a riper style to the fruit, reminiscent of cooked citrus. Slightly at odds with itself in that respect. Some flesh is evident, but could possibly use more tension.
About the producer

Alvina Pernot is one of the most exciting producers of white Burgundy today. Based in Puligny-Montrachet with some incredible vineyards, this is a name to watch – creating taut and mineral styles of white Burgundy.
