Tasting notes
Matt's 2016 Chardonnay Mt Carmel Vineyard is made in a more fresh, racy style and boasts medium body, vibrant acidity, and vivid notes of tart citrus, white flowers, salty minerality, and mint. With a taunt, elegant, energetic vibe, high yet integrated acidity, and a beautiful finish, give it a year or two and it will keep for a decade.

The 2016 Chardonnay Mt. Carmel Vineyard captures every bit of potential I sensed when I tasted it last year from barrel. Vivid, bright and crystalline in its precision, the 2016 pulses with energy and all the pedigree that this rugged hillside site has to offer. Still tightly wound, the 2016 needs time in bottle, but it is positively stellar, even at this stage.
The 2016 Chardonnay Mt. Carmel Vineyard is by far the freshest and most vibrant Chardonnay Matt Dees has made at Mail Road. The natural intensity of the site comes through, but the 2016 is distinguished by its citrus peel and floral notes. Refined, tightly wound and vibrant, it is shaping up to be a jewel of a wine.
