The 2022 Syrah Originals Estate features the first Syrah vines planted in Ballard Canyon in the early 1990s, fermented with 50% whole clusters. The nose is intensely savory and spice-driven, with incense, dried clove and black pepper aromas emerging in a measured, even-keeled fashion. On the palate, it is elegantly dense and velvety in texture before concluding with a lively finish with grainy tannins and charred, roasted fruit flavors.

Leading off an array of Syrahs, the 2022 Syrah Originals comes from the oldest Syrah vines in Ballard Canyon and was 50% destemmed and raised all in neutral barrels. Its deep purple hue is followed by beautiful nose of red, blue, and black fruits interwoven with ground pepper, violets, and salted meats. It's medium to full-bodied on the palate, has building, ripe tannins, some classic Santa Barbara salinity, and outstanding length. It will keep for a solid 10-15 years if well stored.
The 2022 Syrah Originals emerges from the oldest vines on the estate which are also the oldest vines in Ballard Canyon. Seamless and floral, the Originals is distinguished by its red fruit profile, mid-weight structure and total sense of refinement. What a gorgeous wine it is.
